I first heard this song by Sara Groves, "Less Like Scars," a couple of years ago, and immediately loved it. I think what appealed to me was the sense of hope, strength, and victory in the lyrics.
I don't know if there's a person on earth who doesn't ever go through periods of failure, despair, brokenness . . . as this song speaks about. And when I first listened to Sara's song I didn't know in the near future I'd be entering a harrowing, difficult time in my own life. But this past year has been an extremely hard one-- I won't go into details about the circumstances, but for me, the lyric content of "Less Like Scars" is something I now more fully identify with. And I'm glad . . . not because of the bumps in the road, but because of new insights and growth.

Sara Groves is a Christian singer-songwriter. She has created 12 albums, and has been nominated several times for Dove awards. This song is from her second album, All Right Here (2002). Her music is available on Amazon and itunes. The mission statement for her music work, begun in 1997, is "We believe every person has a next step with God." I'm looking for that next step every day.
